Photography Statement

Matthiesen has a love of photography as well as painting and began to concentrate on that in 2015. Now in possession of her own camera, Kate’s unique perspective and innate ability enable her to capture the beauty found in the natural world as well as patterns and images as she sees them during her sojourns with family and friends. When asked what she found compelling about photography compared to painting, she said, "The color is already there."
